Slugs Upset NAIA #1 Cal Baptist
SANTA CRUZ, CA–UC Santa Cruz Men’s Volleyball team defeated NAIA #1 Cal Baptist University on Saturday night at the West Field House, winning in four games, 30-23, 21-30, 30-19, 30-27. The Slugs improve their record to 4-2, and 1-0 against DIII opponents.
Senior two-time All American Brad Sullivan led UCSC with 17 kills while hitting .364 to drive the Slugs offence. Freshman Salvatore La Cavera was second in line for the Slugs with 16 kills hitting .400. Eric Rowell contributed 47 assists to the Slugs victory. The Slugs had an overall hitting percentage of .367 in the battle.
Cal Baptist’s Levi Cabral had an impressive game posting 18 kills. Mohamed Khattab was second with 10 kills.
The Slugs play their next match Friday night at home against Baruch College. The match is set to start at 7:00 PM.
