Raffy joined the UCSC Sports Medicine in the Fall of 2014. He began his athletic training career as a volunteer student intern at UC Davis where he worked with Women’s Volleyball, Track and Field, and Field Hockey. After receiving his undergraduate degree in Exercise Biology in 2011, Raffy was accepted into California Baptist University’s Professional Master’s Program in Athletic Training. While in his 2 year tenure at CBU, he spent time rotating through a number of different athletic training settings. He worked extensively with UC Riverside Athletics as a graduate athletic training student. Raffy was also one of 16 students throughout the nation to intern at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports as a member of their summer sports medicine staff in 2013.
Raffy is a certified Strength and Conditioning coach through the NSCA and a credentialed Corrective Exercise Specialist through NASM. He is also trained in various forms of assessment and manual therapy such as the Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Myofascial Decompression, and Active Release Therapy.
Raffy grew up in Vallejo, CA and enjoys playing video games and training in a number of different martial arts in his spare time.
