Neno joins the UCSC athletic training staff full time after a year of part-time coverage for various UCSC teams and sporting events. He moved from the Philadelphia area to Santa Cruz with his wife and son in the Summer of 2013. After graduating with a B.S. in Athletic Training from West Chester University of Pennsylvania in 2010, he immediately began working as the head athletic trainer for a prestigious K-12 private school in Philadelphia. While there he managed 600+ student-athletes and instituted a comprehensive concussion management protocol utilizing a team approach to the overall health and well-being of the student. Neno’s other duties at the school included teaching 9th/10th grade health and fitness as well as mentoring young graduate and undergraduate athletic training students from local AT education programs.
Neno has a passion for human physiology and functional fitness and constantly strives to stay on the cutting edge in the industry. He is an advocate for an appropriate concussion management protocol that will "do no further harm" to the patient. He is also a certified TRX trainer and has completed the CrossFit Level One Trainers’ Course. His hope is that he can promote an overall health and wellness lifestyle using his broad range of knowledge and experiences.
Oh yeah...and in a previous life, Neno served in the US Army for 8 years and was deployed to various overseas locations during his tour of duty.
