The kids are alright.
Kellen O'Neill and Carrie Bradley were chosen as the Association of Division III Independents men's and women's cross country Runner of the Week. The freshmen were UC Santa Cruz's top runners in the Notre Dame de Namur/Argo Invitational on September 2nd
O'Neill finished fourth out of 54 runners in his first collegiate race. His time of 28:02.6 in the 8K race led the Banana Slugs to a third place team finish.Bradley finished 11th out of 68 runners, finishing with a time of 26:06.5 in the 6K race and helped the Banana Slugs to a fifth place team finish.
"Kellen and Carrie did a phenomenal job in following their respective race plans and executing a great finish," said head coach David Klech. "What a great start to their careers at UC Santa Cruz."
UCSC next participates in the Las Positas Invitational on Friday.
