Association of Division III Independents Names 2012 All-Independent Women’s Volleyball Teams

OVERLAND PARK, KAN.--- The 2012 All-Independent Women's Volleyball teams were announced today by the Association of Division III Independents.

Player of the Year
Mackenzie Hite, Nebraska Wesleyan University, JR, Libero, Grant, Neb. – Hite's 6.6 digs per set leads the AD3I and ranks fifth in NCAA Division III.

Rookie of the Year
Lauren GaNun, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn), FR, Middle Blocker, Breezy Point, N.Y. – GaNun led the team in kills (200), hitting percentage (.279) and blocks (38), and she had nine games where she recorded double-digit kills.

Coach of the Year
Kathleen O'Neill, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn).

The All-Independent Women's Volleyball teams were selected by the women's volleyball coaches from the Association of Division III Independents member schools.

The Association of Division III Independents consists of 10 Division III independent institutions that have joined together to recognize student-athletes at independent institutions, and to provide exempted postseason championship competition. The Association recognizes outstanding athletic achievements of its student-athletes on a weekly, monthly and annual basis. The Association provides statistical services for its members in seven sports. In addition, it will announce All-Independent teams at the conclusion of eight other sports this year.
