Banana Slugs show fight in loss to Wolfpack

The women's tennis team shook off a long layoff to take on Division I Nevada Thursday at the East Courts.

Against probably the toughest opponent they will face all season, the Banana Slugs fell 8-1 to the Wolfpack.

UCSC dropped all three doubles matches on the day. Ashley Isaac won UC Santa Cruz's only point at No. 1 singles, beating Spaniard Marta Ruedas in straight sets.
"I was so impressed with how these Slugs carried themselves today," said head coach Amy Jensen. "We played within ourselves but also played fearlessly from start to finish. It was an awesome showing against a DI opponent - and great sneak peak at what this team is capable of!"

"Today we really focused on how we wanted to compete - rather than the outcome" said sophomore Isabelle Brown. She took her opponent Adriana Gergelyova to a third set before dropping the tiebreaker, ending a long day where she was both the final doubles and singles match to finish.

UCSC concludes the weekend playing Cal Lutheran on Friday afternoon.
