Women's tennis defeated by Westmont

SANTA CRUZ - UC Santa Cruz got to use its depth in a 6-3 dual loss to NAIA power Westmont on Monday.

Westmont took all three doubles matches before UCSC split the singles matches. The closest doubles match was at No. 1 where Westmont rallied to beat Claire Stoner and Isabelle Brown 8-6 after the Slugs were up 5-4.

"Westmont was tough, but our team had grit. I don't think we lost anything today, We aim to be the team other players want to play for!"" said Vivian Lee, whose comeback at No. 6 singles came short in a 6-2, 7-5 loss.

"I'm excited and grateful to have had the opportunity to play today. I now have a clearer understanding of what little things I need to focus on to improve my game," said Lee.

Savana McDowell defeated Taylor Cheung-Damonte 7-5, 1-6, 1-0 (10-5). No. 1 Ashley Isaac rallied to win against Isabel Lee 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-6) and Kayla Manz swept the Warriors' Tatum Phillips 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3.
