INDIANAPOLIS --- The NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Committee have released the 64 teams that will compete for the 2016 Division III Women’s Soccer Championship. The UC Santa Cruz Women’s Soccer Team was selected to compete in the Tournament.

The Banana Slugs were selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions, as well as members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification.

UCSC went 6-10-1 on the year, but was 5-4 against Division III institutions, better than any other Independent. Also key was the Banana Slugs' tough strength of schedule, which featured five Division II opponents.

The team's reward is a rematch against fellow at-large Pomona-Pitzer Saturday. The Slugs fell 3-0 at the Sagehens in the second game of the season. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps takes on NWC champion Pacific Lutheran in the other half of the West Coast subregional.
