TURLOCK, CA - Two days after a double-overtime tie against Cal State East Bay, the UC Santa Cruz women's soccer team faced another Division II opponent on the road in Stanislaus State.
This time, the hosts were able to score in both halves to defeat the Banana Slugs 4-0.
UC Santa Cruz goes to 2-6-1 on the year while Stanislaus State improved to 7-3.
The Warriors held the possession advantage in the first half, racking up a 12-1 shot advantage. Stll, the Slugs looked liked they were going into the break just trailing 1-0. However with seven seconds until the break Kirsten Coleman dribbled through the UCSC defense and poked a shot through to give Stanislaus a 2-0 lead.
Coleman struck again just 30 seconds after the restart when she took a cross at the six-yard box and put it over the line to make it 3-0/ Coleman finished her hat-trick with 15 minutes left scoring after a steal.
Stanislaus finished with a 23-2 shot advantage and a 7-1 advantage on corners. Athena Del Rosario finished the night with six saves and surpassed 100 saves in her career.
The Banana Slugs face another Division II opponent next, this time in the friendly confines of the Lower East Field when Dominican comes to town Tuesday at 3:00pm.
