UCSC falls to Div. II Sonoma State

In the first regular meeting between the two schools since 1989, UC Santa Cruz fell to CCAA leader Sonoma State 5-0 on a sunny Friday afternoon tilt.
UC Santa Cruz falls to 3-6-2. Sonoma State,12th ranked in Division II improves to 8-1-2.

The Seawolves outshot UCSC 26-6 and had a 10-2 edge in corners.

Megan Carey had UCSC's two best chances in the second half to break the shutout.
In the 61st minute she sent a 20-yard rocket that clanged off the cross bar and three minutes later took in a cross but couldn't turn her body on it right,floating the ball over the post.


The Slugs next head to southern California for games Sunday and Monday against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Chapman.
