Shi and Edwards named WGCA Scholar All-Americans

CORAL SPRINGS, Florida- UC Santa Cruz rising sophomores Sarah Shi and Kylie Edwards were named Scholar All-Americans by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) for 2017-18.

Edwards and Shi finished the year in 20th and 35th respectively at the American Southwest Conference championships. They were among six golfers from the University of California system to be honored.  

"Sarah and Kylie both had their personal best scores this season in competitive tournament action," said UCSC head coach Paulette Pera. "Accomplishing these academic and athletic heights their first year of college golf is really exciting. The UCSC Women's Golf Program has a bright future indeed. " 

A total of 1,011 women's collegiate golfers across all three NCAA Divisions were recognized with this honor.  The criteria for selection to the WGCA Scholar All-American Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics, with a minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50. Candidates must also be of high moral character and have played in a minimum of 10 rounds in Division III for 2017-18 season.
