UC Santa Cruz continued their 2015-16 season as they took part in the Sonoma State Fall Invitational. The event took place at Foxtail Golf Club North in Rohnert Park, California. The Banana Slugs' competition featured eleven NCAA Division II schools from up and down the west coast.
In the first round, Ravipa Losakul led the Banana Slugs' contingent with an 89 (+17) which tied her along with Erin Martens of Sonoma State University and Maria Traboulsi of Academy of Art University. Olivia Bean shot a 90 (+18) which tied her with Hafsa Khan and Taylor Wyss of CSU East Bay and Michelle Latini of Holy Names University. Angela McElroy shot a 92 (+20) which tied her with Alexis Marshall of CSU Monterey Bay. Tiffany Guzman shot a 97 (+25) and Rachel Pae rounded out the Banana Slugs' group with a 98 (+26). Michelle Picca of Point Loma Nazarene University led the individual competition after one round. Sonoma State University led the team competition while UC Santa Cruz was in twelfth place.
In the second round, Losakul shot a 92 (+20) for a total tournament score of 181 (+37) which tied her for 57th place along with Marshall and Megan Santo Domingo of Holy Names University. McElroy also shot a 92 (+20) for a total score 184 (+40) which tied her for 63rd along with Allison Hunt of Dominican University of California. Bean shot a 96 (+24) for a tournament score of 186 (+42) which tied her for 66th place along with Courtney Lemos of Holy Names University. Guzman finished in 69th place after shooting a second round 98 (+26) for a total score of 195 (+51). Pae rounded out the Banana Slugs contingent in 70th place with a second round 102 (+30) for a tournament score of 200 (+56).
The Banana Slugs will hit the links again this weekend as they will take part in the Cal Poly Firestone Grill Women's Invitational on October 24th-25th. The event will take place in Arroyo Grande at Cypress Ridge Golf Course.
