Hot outside shooting leads women's basketball to 27-point win at St. Katherines

SAN MARCOS - UC Santa Cruz outscored the hosts 27-11 in the last quarter to put away a close game and beat St. Katherine 79-52 on Friday afternoon.

The Banana Slugs (5-12) had a season-high 13 three pointers to break a two-game losing streak with their highest point total of the year.

Katie Young led UCSC with 19 points and CJ Catina had 17. The two guards combined to go 10-26 from long range. Katherine Mauldin got the start at forward and had a career-high 12 rebounds.

Damika Finlay-Ponds led USK with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 2 steals.

The Slugs take on Bethesda in Carson Saturday afternoon.
