OVERLAND PARK, KAN -- University of California Santa Cruz junior forward Leah Parrish (Fair Oaks, Calif.) has been awarded the Association of Division III Independents women's basketball Player of the Week. Parrish posted her fifth double-double of the season with 25 points and 18 rebounds versus Bethesda Christian University on Saturday. The 6'0" junior matched up against 6'5" and 6'3" athletic post players from Bethesda, dominating both on the block and in the high post. The forward converted clutch shots in the paint during the closing moments of the game to give UC Santa Cruz a 63-59 victory in their lone game of the week. Parrish is now second on the team averaging 12.5 points per game and leads the Banana Slugs with 8.0 rebounds per game.
