NEWBERG, OR -- The Slugs jumped into the deep end of the pool and faced the 10th ranked George Fox Bruins. The Slugs battled but eventually succumbed to the much taller Bruins 74-45.
The Bruins sent out a line-up that contained no player smaller than 5'9''. The Slugs responded with a taller lineup that included all three post players Sarah Mackey, Leah Parrish and LaShay Alexander. Over the next 7 minutes, the Bruins used a pressure defense and excellent outside shooting to run off 17 straight points. Ryane Ortiz ended the run making a difficult in traffic layup but the Slugs trailed 26-9. The Bruins held the Slugs to 22% shooting on the night and built a 40-18 half time lead.
The second half started the way the first half ended. The Slugs could not find the bucket. The Bruins ran off 13 straight points and the Slugs trailed 53-18.
