Men's Swimming Finishes 4th, Women Finish 6th in University of the Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON (10-13) – The Banana Slugs took part in their first invitational of the 2018-19 season as they took part in the University of the Pacific Invitational in Stockton. The Banana Slugs' competition featured five NCAA Division I schools and one NCAA Division II school.

The women's team had participants finish in the top ten in three of the sixteen events that the Banana Slugs took part in. Individually, freshman Elisabeth Lundgren (100-yard backstroke) had the best finish, placing 14th in 1:02.33. As a team, the Banana Slugs' best finish was eighth in the 200-yard medley relay where Meghan Burr, Katie Hardung, Kenya Lam and Ryan Springer-Carter finished in 1:55.85.

In the men's competition, the Banana Slugs had participants finish in the top ten in nine of the seventeen events that took place and in five of those events, they had participants finish in the top five. Individually, Niles Ramos (400-yard IM) and Aaron Wood (1650-yard freestyle) had the best finishes of the day for the Banana Slugs as they both finished fourth in their individual events. As a team, the Banana Slugs' best finish was in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:18.37) and 400-yard medley relay (3:44.63) in which they finished fifth.

In the men's team competition, University of the Pacific won while the Banana Slugs finished fourth. In the women's team competition, University of Nevada-Reno won while the Banana Slugs finished sixth.  

The next event for the Banana Slugs will be October 27th as they take part in the Bay Area Invitational hosted by Mills College in Oakland.
