Banana Slugs Cool Off Trailblazers

SANTA CRUZ (1-21) – The Banana Slugs took part in their third dual match of the season as they took on NCAA Division II member Dixie State University. The Banana Slugs won twenty-seven of the thirty-one events that took place and won 144-122 over the Trailblazers.

In the men's competition, the Banana Slugs won all thirteen events they competed in. Individually, Casey Collella (100 and 200 yard breaststroke and 200 yard individual medley) won three events. Ivan Garin (50 yard freestyle and 100 yard backstroke) and John Lupu (100 and 200 yard butterfly) won two events apiece. Tyler Andree (1,000 yard freestyle), Eli Cirino (1 meter diving), Trevor Edwards (100 yard freestyle), Diego Majewski (200 yard backstroke), Travis Rogers (500 yard freestyle) and Wesley Whittlesey (200 yard freestyle) won one event apiece.

The women's team had participants finish in the top five in fourteen of the sixteen events that took place. Individually, Ellen Curry (500 and 1000 yard freestyle), Krystal Feri (100 and 200 yard breaststroke), Ayves Mykela (one and three meter diving), Megan Roby (200 yard butterfly and freestyle) and Ryan Springer-Carter (50 and 100 yard freestyle) won two events apiece. Madeline Schade (100 yard butterfly) won one event. As a team, the Banana Slugs won the 400 yard medley relay.

The women's competition was the only one that was scored. The Banana Slugs won the womens team competition 144-122.

The next time the Banana Slugs will hit the pool will be next Saturday as they take on NCAA Divison I member University of the Pacific in Stockton.
