Banana Slugs Take Part in Bulldog Invitational

FRESNO (11-12) – UC Santa Cruz took part in the Bulldog Invitational in their second event of the 2016-17 season. The event took place at Fresno State University in Fresno. Their opponents included two NCAA Division I schools and one NCAA Division II school.

In the men's competition, the Banana Slugs had competitors finish in the top ten in fifteen of the sixteen events that took place and in seven of those events, the Banana Slugs had competitors finish in the top five. Individually, Eli Cirino (one meter and three-meter diving) had the best individual finish for the Banana Slugs as he finished second. As a team, the Banana Slugs' best finish was in the 400-yard freestyle relay as they finished fourth.

The women's team had participants finish in the top ten in eight of the sixteen events that took place and in two of those events, the Banana Slugs finished twice in the top five. Individually, Aya Yoneda had the best finish for the Banana Slugs as she finished second in the one meter and three-meter diving events. As a team, the best finish for the Banana Slugs was seventh in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The next time the Banana Slugs will hit the pool will be Friday as they take on Colorado College at UCSC Aquatics Center in Santa Cruz.
