Slugs Honored as PCSC Swimmers of the Week

LONG BEACH, CALI - Two Slugs were selected as Pacific Collegiate Swim and Dive Conference (PCSC) Swimmers of the Week. The PCSC announced today the selection of Christian Leon and Ryan Springer-Carter as the Slugs swept this week's honors.

Leon, had a strong weekend at the CSUEB Invitational finishing the 50 Free in 22.74, 100 Free in 48.40, and swam the first leg of the 200 Free Realy with a time of 1:45.53.  He also posted a 4:48.32 in the 500 Free in addition to swimming on 3 other relays.  

For the women, sophomore Springer-Carter had multiple highlights from the invitational.  She finished the 50 Free in 24.82, 100 Free in 53.86, and 100 IM in 1:04.05.  She also swam on four of the Slugs' relays throughout the weekend.  

"We were very pleased with how we raced coming off some heavy training" said head coach Kim Musch.  "Other teams were rested coming in, yet we were still competitive. We are specifically excited about the continued development of Christian and Ryan.  Both stepped up to the challenge against strong competition this weekend" 

The men's and women's team finished 2nd and 4th against teams that included NCAA DI and DII programs.

Added Musch, "We are in a good place for the rest of the season".
