Banana Slugs drop close dual to Division II Holy Names

SANTA CRUZ - UC Santa Cruz fell 7-2 to Division II Holy Names in an entertaining match on Sunday.

After the Hawks took all three doubles matches by the score of 8-4, UCSC started the singles portion strong. Ryan Gee won his first head-to-head of the seaon sweeping Philip Achenbach at No. 6 and Chad Le Duff beat Frenchman Hugo Colpart of HNU 7-6, 6-1 at No. 1 to make it a 3-2 match.

The Hawks however survived by winning the last four singles, all of which either went to a tiebreaker or a third set.  

UC Santa Cruz (1-6) next plays Division III rival Cal Lutheran on Saturday March 2.
