Late Goal Lifts Tigers Over Banana Slugs

EAGLE ROCK (10-19) – The Banana Slugs finished up their eight match road trip as they took on Occidental College in Eagle Rock. The Tigers scored a goal within the last eleven minutes of play to defeat the Banana Slugs 1-0.

In the first half, the match was played at a back and forth pace. The Tigers outshot the Banana Slugs 7-2 in the first half. The last chance for the Banana Slugs to score was with 40:51 left on a Jacob Myers Norys header but his shot went wide left. Zachary Lamb had two saves in the half. The two teams were tied at 0-0 at halftime.

In the second half, the match was played again at a back and forth pace. In the half, the Banana Slugs had two corner kicks to the Tigers' one. With 10:42 left, the Tigers would score on a Sean Kim shot after a pass from Ethan Glass to gain a 1-0 advantage. The last chance for the Banana Slugs to score came with 9:26 left on a Myers Norys shot but the shot was saved by Tigers' goalie Will Baltrus.

Myers Norys had two shots to lead the Banana Slugs while for Occidental, Liam Walsh had a match high three shots.

The Banana Slugs will return home next Saturday to take on University of La Verne. Kickoff is set for 3 pm.
