Dhond named AD3I men’s soccer Player of the Week

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Freshman midfielder Kailas Dhond (Davis, Calif.) has been selected as the Association of Division III Independents men's soccer Player of the Week.

He joins forwards Ari Statler and Dom Royall as winners from UCSC over the past three weeks.

The freshman came off the bench to score his first career goal and recorded the game-winning assist to Jacob Myers Norys in the Banana Slugs' 2-1 win at Division II Academy of Art on Sunday.

"Kailas level of play has been very impressive for a first-year player," said head coach Mike Runeare. "He has a great first touch, is aggressive with the ball on the dribble and plays with a lot of confidence."

UCSC plays at Division III rival Occidental in Los Angeles on Friday.
